Abandoibarra has been the industrial zone of Bilbao, where were located shipyards and other companies related to the industrial sector. The Euskalduna Shipyards occupied the vast majority of the area for years. In addition, in this area were also the workshops and warehouses of Renfe, full of containers of goods to the Port of Bilbao. With the industrial crisis, the activity in Abandoibarra decreased until it stopped completely. This area was very degraded as a result of the industrial uses that for many years characterized this part of Bilbao. For more than a decade began to rehabilitate and the result you can see in the photo above, as it was transformed into an area of leisure and services. It was renovated by a company Bilbao Ría 2000, the great majority of the new Abandoibarra.
This tour consists of 2 hours guided tour of Abandoibarra with its main streets and buildings such as: Euskalduna Palace, Meliá Bilbao Hotel, Parkeder, Etxargi, Artklass, Euskadi Square, New Library of the University of Deusto, UPV / EHU Auditorium , Iberdrola Tower and Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.
